that's what friends are for
a blatent, cheesy stevie wonder reference. sorry.

i've been told that the friends you make in med school will be some of your closest friends in life. i'm now a believer.
the life of a med student is a unique experience to say the least. it truly is hard for outsiders to comprehend what we go through. the balanced life you had before med school literally has to take a back seat to a new life of extremes. these days, i consistently pull all-nighters, pass out at odd hours and locations, booze like crazy when there's one "free" night (to remind myself that i once had a social life), etc. oddly enough, i'm used to this life now. and so our my med school friends.
my sister has commented on how the breakup with my (non-med school) girlfriend last year was blessing in disguise (she hated her anway, heh), allowing me to bond more with my classmates. instead of seeking solace from a girl who couldn't relate to my worries and stresses, i gravitated towards the guys i live with now. it made a huge difference. i'm much happier now.
so here's to the crew at the spice shack...you've seen me at my worst (the histology pratical freak-out comes to mind) and you put up with my frequent sleep-deprived bitterness towards the world, and somehow you still like to hang out with me. thanks.
